try timetrex, i've been playing around with it and it prints out barcodes
from the accounts you've created. it supports a number of barcode reader but
i haven't gotten around to setting it up. good luck

I have found a Gnu App that could print barcodes... and some are just
linux drivers. Maybe there's a complete set out there: create barcode from
db, print, read off barcode reader, compare with db, result.
