I only play few games on the PC these days. I'm playing Orange Box (Half-Life 2 series, Team Fortress 2, Portal, all through Steam) since Wine 0.5x.x and it seems to run, but only at Direct3D 8 (which looks good). It's definitely slower than running Orange Box on Windows though. That's why I bought a licensed copy of Windows recently because it looks better and faster. As for native games, like Quake 3, Doom 3, Enemy Territory, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Penny Arcade Ep 1.... it feels smoother/faster on Linux than on Windows. At least that's how it runs on my machine. Others say it's faster on Windows. -- Gideon N.
