Ubuntu is everywhere don't be afraid for support. You can now even use edge kernel[1]. Some of the latest package is available via ppa[2].

Regarding the itch, this is something you have to fix on your own, but then it is natural for geeks to do such :-) Indeed, you are right Sir Jerome. PCLinuxOS is a metadistro or rolling release so I just have to be faithful to the repos and just update and update whenever needed. As for the LTS, I don't think that the kernel are being updated. Only point updates. (I think!) Back to d3amon, Ubuntu would be great but you might also want to try PCLinuxOS just for comparison. -- Jerome G.
