true. i remember manny mentioning in a talk that linux and open source
give people a choice. it does necessarily eliminate the redmond software
or all other software in the house. but, it gives people a choice.
freedom to choose their software without being limited to only redmond
software or any other closed software out there. the emphasis must
be to widen the student's field of apperception.

if the student is faced with any type of system he must be able to handle
it to a certain level. especially, CS and MIS majors. it is sad to note 
that a lot of these graduate and only know windows and not a trace of unix
in their blood.
