While not trying to trash Microsoft, I think that ignoring the fact that
Microsoft products are considered the *de facto* standard by most, would
be a mistake, as well.
Mentioning Star Office compatibility is an obvious way to answer the
issue of, "But we need to *train* them to work in the *standard*
MS-equipped office." The obvious question is, "Why should I switch to
something compatible when I can have the 'real thing?'"
Issues of our culture of piracy may play well at this time in our
history, since they are close to the issues which put Sen. Roco et. al.
where they are. But we will need more than that if we are to expect more
than a grand statement with no teeth. Let me think, peruse some other
writings by Gary Murphy, the Mexican folks, etc...later....
