In that case I think the school's going to be okay with authing against
a central server instead of having a central server tell them that
they're authed... <shrug> I don't know. I'm trying to figure out some
other thorny design issues right now. Help! =)

See, I'm playing around with the idea of writing a course web page
system, as that's been an open project for forever. Ateneo's going to
get Blackboard sometime soon, but so far it hasn't yet materialized.
Besides, it's a fun exercise.

So many questions! =) For example, user accounts. Should I make student
accounts different from teacher accounts, or should I give everyone a
generic account and let courses have their own ACLs saying who has
teacher access and student access? The latter is more flexible, but might
be harder to administer. The former can probably take advantage of our
LDAP directory, but... hmm... I can just have different entry points, I
suppose.

What about templates and personalization? Departments and teachers want
their own 'look', but things also need to be consistent. Maybe I could
have a set of templates that give teachers a choice. I suck at design,
but we have really cool multimedia people here. =)

Does anyone know the e-mail addresses of the people at UP who wrote a
course web page system? I'd like to get in touch with them, but the
article I read didn't mention any addresses, although it did say they
used open source technologies. Yay! =)
