My "sleek performance" standard depends on a case-to-case basis and is context-sensitive. Eclipse is an IDE, StarOffice is not. If you will compare Eclipse versus NetBeans that's pretty related and the runaway winner is Eclipse because it uses native libraries instead of Sun's Swing APIs. So if we are going to compare another IDE let's say Borland JBuilder which uses Swing as well, the result is obvious.
But since you have to categorize what is the fastest java app. You cannot compare a Nokia MIDLet against Eclipse if that is what you're trying to say. So you have to classify a java app base on its purpose before you can conclude it's performance you cannot compare a truck to a car _salamabit_ like is it a mobile app? is it a dev tool? is it an office productivity app? is it an application server? Eclipse has "sleek > performance" in pretty much the same way StarOffice is resource-thrifty: > The latter is true only by Adobe Photoshop standards. ;-> > > -- > Cheers, Ceterum censeo, Caldera delenda est. > Rick Moen > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > -- > Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List > [EMAIL PROTECTED] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) > Official Website: http://plug.linux.org.ph > Searchable Archives: http://marc.free.net.ph > To leave, go to http://lists.q-linux.com/mailman/listinfo/plug > Are you a Linux newbie?
