I must have a different idea of "offensive" than other people, because

Are you willing to share what you know?  It seems like that might be a
better option than just handing out insults and then saying "trust me"
afterward.

Also, have you considered that (as you stated above) the issue is too
personal for people close to it to think about objectively, and
therefore the things they've been telling people haven't been 100%
true?  I'm not accusing people of lying, but when someone is struck by
a tragedy, they're not always thinking (or remembering) clearly.

Kind of doubt it.  Anyone who doesn't know the same inside information
you do has probably had it at least cross their mind.
