Steve
I hope you don't mind continueing on the third party (plugins) list. This
might be interesting for quite a few people.
Thanks very much for doing this. I've just installed it onto a PC and
it should work very well.
So you did a hd install? This is important as you can't rip if you run it
from CD as the CD must be left in its drive :-). Except:
- you run it from the lilo boot prompt using the "toram" parameter (will
run completely from ram - needs 512MB)
- you install on HD or USB stick (I don't have any experience in this so
far)
- you have more than one CD drive
If you did the hd install, does the slimserver update still work?
Could you recommend any CD ripping software
for DSL. I had been using GRip (and CDEX on Win32).
So do I. There are quite a few packages for DSL available from
damnsmallinux.org. And there's even a GUI to install them - well hidden in
SlimCD, though. Open a shell and run mydslPanel.lua, go to the Multimedia
category and install Grip. Don't forget to reconfigure it to use lame
instead of oggenc if you really want MP3. And if you wanted flac you'd
find it in /opt/slimserver/Bin/i386-linux.
Have fun!
