Except for World service, the BBC realaudio streams are only about 40kbit/s - the audio stream is not changed but the data transfer mechanism (RTSP) can adjust itself according to the quality of a link to ensure smooth playback.
RealPlayer (which is the BBC player) implements RTSP fully and so can do full adjustment to work with slow links. Mplayer is used in AlienBBC to handle the RTSP link but it does not implement the various adjustment mechanism so the parameters when started have to be right to ensure playback. There is one parameter (bandwidth) which has been set in AlienBBC which may be causing the problem. You do not say which OS nor which version of SS you are using so the following are general instructions to remove the bandwidth option. If you are using Slimserver 6.5.x then try the following 1. Stop Slimserver. 2. Edit the file called custom-convert.conf in the Plugins/Alien. Use Wordpad if you are using Windows. 4. On the 3 RTSP lines, delete the "-bandwidth 10000000" option. 5. Save and close the files. 6. Restart Slimserver and test. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41023 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
