There is a bit difference in network handling between Listen Again and live programs.

I haven't see that. I believe the streams are encoded (about 40kbit/sec) and it is the TCP windows (RWIN) which is being adjusted. As long as the basic modem speed can supply 40kbit/sec. I have heard of similar symptoms from users (99% windows) who have either satellite links (long delays, large RWIN) or users who have tweaked TCP paramters to maximise download (again RWIN change) but this affects streams which are time sensitive. > > Have I understood this correctly: there is no way to get the software > to adjust the bit rate automatically or manually? > No and yes. No Automatic bit rate adjustemnet but I don't believe that is happening anyway - it is transmission adjustments that is happening with RealPlayer. Buffer size and Buffer Threshold will affect RWIN. Also the "Bandwidth" option can be used to tell the BBC server the speed of your connections. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41023 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
