So this means that even if I don't really like it, I'll probably change it so it on Squeezeplay devices also affects the IR remote interface while it doesn't on Boom/Classic/Transporter. It will probably be optional, so you can configure it to work as it does at the moment, which could be useful for users that only uses Custom Browse menus.

The reason it exists is that at the time I implemented it there wasn't any way to mix standard track details menus with third party menus, at the moment it is through the TrackInfo api so there is no reason Custom Browse should try to replace it. I'll just have to get some time to actually remove it and replace it with a TrackInfo implementation.
