It would also be quite cool. I've already done the hard work of converting disparate ir protocols & lirc files into a common format that the Controller can understand and it is trivial to convert that into something that iTach likes and spit it out to the network. All it would require is a new flag in the xml file to indicate whether the ir events should be sent via the Controller's built-in ir emitter or by the iTach over http. If the flag is set to iTach then the ir code gets concatenated with some other parameters such as the iTach's IP address (also defined in the xml) and sent over the network, otherwise the original functionality remains. This would allow you to control any piece of equipment from anywhere using SqueezeIR. I think an added bonus would be that it would work with desktop SqueezePlay allowing you to control devices remotely using SqueezeIR files from your pc!! Currently SqueezeIR can be loaded onto SqueezePlay but it's pointless for anything other than debugging as SqueezeIR cannot access the ir emitter (assuming there is one which is not usually the case). Testing may be difficult though as I don't have an iTach and at £150 I'm probably not going to get one anytime soon.
