I've grubbed around looking at the detail differences between the RTMP and HLS code for this, tried a few experiments and got nowhere. It needs in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of LMS to fix that, and it doesn't seem to be easy to work it out. I'm with you on the Perl vs C - after a significant effort since the BBC debacle started, I'm still struggling to get to grips with Perl - my ageing brain is resisting.
