I moved out of the kitchen not wanting Danae to hear the conversation which
was certain to follow. More than anything this emotional blackmail got under
my skin, now this had become a matter of pride, and asserting my
independence as much as keeping us safe from whatever else the Legacy threw
our way. "I'm sure she'll be safe here, after all it's Kat and I that are
under threat...again. Perhaps you would be so kind as to look after her for
a few days, " I suggested pointedly, making it clear I wasn't much in favour
of his brand of patriarchy.
