Sam was quite, even after she knew Reese was standing ther beside her.  She
was seething inside and at the same time close to tears.  "I'm sorry, I'll
stay away from them from now on," she said her voice strained.  It didn't
matter what she did or said, it was clearly always going to be the wrong
thing as long as Julia Walker was around.  "I'll take a cab home, you don't
need to drop me off."


"Why exactly are you sorry, Sam?" Reese asked.  She loved her friend - Sam
was a sister to her, forget the 'like' part.  But she really had, in Reese's
opinion, reacted... well she flipped and Reese couldn't see the reason why.
The only time she saw anyone tense was Sam when Julia and Derek had talked
about, of all things, pickles, and then Julia after Sam had traded dishes
with Kat after the girl was told to eat what she had.  Actually Reese
remembered a time when she had pulled the same thing with Sam because she
hadn't wanted to eat beets.... and they had both gotten the same reaction.
