"Most official IDs do." Claire admitted as she opened the door to the woman
and let her in, only to lock the door back before offering a chair "Have a
seat. I'll be right back."
She went into the adjoining room, got the small crate, and then brought it
back, gently setting it on the table and uncovering it to reveal the writing
on it. It was both english and something else - Claire couldn't find
anything on the net resembling it so figured it was something old and
outdated.
She sat on the second chair and reached over to the dressing table, getting
a small scale crowbar from it and, movements careful, put it at the edge of
the top of the crate to gently pry the top off.
With a slight creeking sound it came off and Claire handed it to Kristin,
then set the crowbar down and stood. Expression solemn and movements extra
careful and slow, she brought the artifact out, setting it on the table
between them and sighing when that was done, sitting back down in her seat.
She looked at it for a moment and then at Kristin. The same feeling that
always came with viewing it came again, an almost physical thing that
crawled through the air.
"Do you feel it?" She asked the other woman with a bare whisper, once again
looking at the etchings on the artifact itself.
NM:
Kristen watched Claire curiously; the crate itself wasn't very interesting, but then, they never are. It's what's inside that matters. For the first time in a very long while, Kristen was almost stunned by the artifact Claire brought out of the crate. She wanted to touch it, but she also didn't want to even be in the same room with it. Realizing that she was holding her breath, Kristen exhaled, and in a small effort to postpone an intense examination, looked to Claire. "I don't think I've ever run across anything like this before. Where on earth did you find it?" She looked back at the artifact, which seemed to almost beckon to the women. With a bit of unease, Kriten shifted in her chair. "The feeling? How could anyone not feel this? It's an almost tangible feeling..."
