Alex chuckled and joked "I bet this is where the road rage statistics come
from."

Julia spotted Kat just then as she laughed at Alex's joke "There she is."

"Oh, that reminds me.." she waited for a car in front of her to go and hit
the speed dial code on the cellphone to get Derek's direct number to remind
him about meeting them for the early dinner they had planned.

When Derek answered she grinned and greeted him "Well, hello there Mister
Rayne, guess where you're supposed to be headed?"

She then gave a little wave to Kat as the girl spotted her and was turning
into the street as directed, careful of the traffic around them.

Then, suddenly and as if happening in slow motion a man in a black
trenchcoat stepped out from behind a tree near Kat and snatched her by the
arm, roughly pushing her toward the driver's side of the car and in as he
got in as well.

"Oh my god -" a cold fear gripped Julia as she slammed on her breaks and
flipped open the compartment between the driver's and passengers seat, at
the same time throwing open her door and running out, gun in hand and
weaving her way through the stand-still traffic "KAATTT!"

Alex gripped the dashboard and opened the passenger side door, ready to jump
out and barely realizing Derek was still on the phone and that Julia's door
was wide open for any oncoming traffic. She ran to the other side after
closing her door and was about to close hers when she screamed in horror
"JULIA!"

Just then, and getting closer to the car that Kat had been pushed in and
seeing her frightened face, a car from out of nowhere came out like a bolt,
right in front of where Julia was running.

There was the sounds of screeching brakes and a thud. Julia had been hit
and had gone into the car's winshield.

But, instead of stopping, Julia went with the blow and rolled with it until
she came to a running landing and then continued after the car that had Kat
in it.

"Derek, get here quick - someone's just kidnapped Kat!" Alex told him
before shutting the door and trying to catch up with Julia, who was running
like a woman possessed.

The car was turning on the next street, to the right, and Julia jumped onto
the sidewalk and cut across a small park, screaming Kat's name and trying to
catch up to the vehicle.

The crowd of people, teachers and students alike were now in full motion,
shocked and reacting to what had just happened.

And the car was already getting away, turning onto an unpopulated street
that went right onto the feeder and the freeway beyond.

"NOOOOO!" Julia screamed at the top of her lungs as she saw the car
disappearing, only to finally fall onto her knees when she couldn't give
chase anymore "KATTT!!"

"Oh god, no." she felt hot tears streaking down her face and her body
starting to shake in reaction.

When Alex finally caught up to her and looked back to see that there was
still no way of manuevering around the traffic to give chase and then
touched Julia's shoulder, her friend flinched hard and started to swing at
her, catching herself at the last minute when she realized it was Alex and
making herself stand up in almost automatic mode.

Julia barely remembered to tuck the gun into the waistband of her slacks and
cover it with the jacket she was wearing as she got to the small group and
the teacher still standing there and asking harshly "Did anyone get a look
at the guy's face?"

Alex heard the feignt sounds of sirens approaching. Obviously someone had
already called the police. She could only hope that Derek wasn't far
behind.

Derek:
Derek glanced at his watch when he heard Julia's voice on the phone.
Smiling slightly he reponded, "Italian...I'm glad you called, I'd lost track
of time." He'd spent the entire afternoon tracking down as much information
on the stalker as possible, He'd gotten a lot actually, medical records,
which he was quite sure Rachel would pitch a fit about, police records,
school records, driving records. Social history. He felt like he knew more
about the man then himself at the moment. A clearly unbalanced man, that
was very apparent.

Julia's sudden strangled cry followed by Alex's jarred Derek focusing his
mind solely on the telephone. "What is it?" There was no response.
"Julie? JULIA!" Still nothing. He continue to call to her and Alex
finally raising his voice to an extreme. "ALEX, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!"
Just before the woman answered him a psychic flash filled his minds eye. He
saw Kat being dragged into a black car, screaming and crying." Alex's words
dragged him back into his office and he was already on his feet. "I'm on my
way," he told her, "don't move."

He then hung up and rushed out of the house driving at speeds that even Nick
would have been impressed with. The ferey caused him a great deal of
irritation as it moved far to slowly. He was about to take up the chopper
when it finally arrived and allowed him to board.

Kat was terrified. She fought the man, kicking and screaming, biting and
clawing at him, but it was no use. He was too strong. "JULIA," she sobbed,
begging for help. She didnt' like this man and didn't want to go with him.
Once inside the car she tried to open the door, but the passenger side door
wouldn't budge. She pounded on the glass and then turned on the man,
kicking at him as he drove. "LET ME OUT!"
