preoccupied with that."  Then another thought occurred to him.  "Alexandra
Maoreaux was with her," he gestured at the other young woman irritation
beginning to fill him.  "Why does that matter right now?  She's not the one
who took Kat and that is quite obvious."

The officer merely let Mister Rayne speak but knew that, to the Head
Detective, no one was exempt from suspicion.  So he wrote down the statement
given him and went on with the questions.

"Do you know of anyone that would want to do any harm to the child?"
