Derek cleared his throat slightly. "I understand you were up here
today...waiting for me? I think there's been some miscommunication and I
take responsibility for that." He looked down for a moment and then back up
meeting her eyes. "I thought you understood that it was over between
us...."
Derek took the shirt and nodded. "Thank you," he said trying to smile.
"I'll see you in a bit. Tell my mother I'll be in to see her soon." He
watched her leave and took Magan by the arm leading to the bed and motioning
for her to sit. He took the chair on the other side of the night stand.
Megan followed him in, barely sparing Julia a glance as she sat and looked
at Derek.
"Over?" she asked after a long pause before shaking her head slightly
"But -okay you wanted to spare Julia's feelings just now, right? I mean you
don't just accept a dinner date from someone one day, and then breeze by the
other woman like you did tonight with Julia if it was really her you cared
about -"
She looked at him with a measure of confusion, trying to figure out why he
would continue to try and spare the other woman's feelings.
"It can't be over." she said, so low it was almost a whisper. She
remembered that day. He had picked her!
