Julia:
She looked at him for a moment, realizing he was seriously wanting to know.
Of course she did.. but not if it meant being the only person that did. It
was the reason she hadn't brought it up; because he was satisfied with the
way things were with them and she knew that what she had with him was the
real thing, marriage license or not, and wasn't going to change except to
grow.
"I think the question is, Derek, do you want to get married? And.. why?"
Derek:
So her answer was yes, even if she hadn't said it, he knew that was right.
"I never really...." he was cut off by Philip's sudden appearance at the
door.
Philip:
Philip was about to answer when what he had heard before he entered the
library caught up with him and he looked at the two, the realization dawning
on him.
"You and Julia?" he asked, as if trying the idea out loud before repeating
it in a less than a questioning manner "Julia and you...."
His expression stayed serious for a long moment, looking back and forth
between the two and... and remembering. The way Derek was when they had
gotten back after Ireland, at the service and days afterward, although most
had chalked it up to the demon itself. Derek had covered it up and had
Philip not been in the business of seeing past the surface and right into a
man's soul, he wouldn't have ever seen it himself.
Then he started to grin "Well, I'll be. I shouldae known."
Derek:
Derek raised an eyebrow at his friend. "Why? Have you turned profit
without telling me Father?" He smiled slightly at his friend. "Perhaps you
should sit down," he offered.
