Derek let out an exasperated sigh as he moved behind his desk and sank into
his chair, landing rather harshly in the seat. He swiveled it around to
face Sloan. "A zealot like Cross you mean.....I know that kind of lengths
he's gone to William. I'll talk to everyone about keeping this quiet. But
if he does anything to harm Julia or the baby...I won't tolerate it and I
don't care how it looks."

Sloan knew, just by looking at Derek, that it would go much further than
'not tolerating it' but he couldn't blame him. If anyone tried to harm
Patricia or the kids....

"He's walked a line, Derek," he said "But if he goes over that line and puts
anyone in jeopardy you won't have to do anything. We'll have a straight
line on taking care of him and kicking him out."

Not that that would really satisfy Derek, he suspected, but it was the best
he could do without offering to hand his friend a .35mm

He looked at Derek and asked the next question, suspecting another angry
response.

"And how do you plan on.. explaining it to Julia when you have to stop
seeing her during the investigation?"
