"So do I," Derek agreed about that. There was no doubt in his mind that she
would be a wonderful mother. At Rachel's next query he folded his arms
across his chest and looked at her sternly.
"Of course, it was years ago, but yes I did." The way that he said it,
there was really no way of telling whether or not he was telling the truth
and he left it just like that.
"OH! Can I mommy, PLEASE, can I go see the baby pictures get taken
sometime?"
Rachel turned the tables on him through and her expression was cheeky. He
had said it to her, that he only did background checks on people that the
team would be getting personally or romantically involved with.
"So," a little Irish accent coming through her tone "You were thinking of
her in that way back then, hmm?"
Then, just as innocently as she could manage she turned her attention to her
daughter and chuckled "I think that would be a neat idea."
"But for now," Rachel added, looking at the clock and seeing the time "How
about we start getting ready and let Julia and Derek go take care of the
things they have to do. That way we're not all late for the wedding."
She ruffled Kat's hair and drew her to stand in front of her, arms gently
around her shoulders as Rachel winked at the adults.
Julia straightened and smiled back, glad things had worked out the way they
had.
