Derek laughed, "boarding school." He took a bite of his soup. "But I did get to spend a portion of the Christmas Holidays in Egypt. Which was a complete surprise, because.....I....had come home with a letter dismissing me permanently from that institution. I was rather surprised my father hadn't lost his temper and changed his mind about that trip."
So was Julia, but she had decided long ago she wasn't going to try and make sense of Winston Rayne. The main meals came then and she sat back and smiled thanks as it was set before her. Then the waiter went and set Derek's plate before him. When he was done he nodded at both and left. "How is Christmas in Egypt?" Julia asked as she picked up a fork. Derek shrugged. "I had a good time, but we weren't actually there for Christmas itself. My mother insisted that we be home for that. Considering that a majority of the population is Muslim, I suspect the holiday is ignored...well perhaps not the more secular parts."
