Todd,
You were indeed more fortunate than I, as I had several times where
the former ONSALE did this to me with no gifts, money or otherwise to
make up for it. I lost an 8100 that way, as well as a hard drive,
three scanners, and the like.
In fact, they once sold a Visioneer Paperport scanner and had
advertised CD software as part of the deal, and it came with no
software whatsoever. After a week, they told me that the ad was
wrong, and they had no way of getting the software. Fortunately, I
called Visioneer to see if they would sell it to me, know of my
situation, and they did, FOR REPLACEMENT COST OF ONLY $12. That
worked out well, as then Onsale never did charge my card for the
scanner.
However, I must say that I have had a NUMBER of bad sales experiences
with Onsale, and rarely did business with them after that. Egghead
bought them, and has resently sold them to someone else. Guess it
didn't work out.....
Oh, and they let themselves be hacked and dumped tons of credit card
info of their customers. Fortunately, every card I had registered
with them I no longer carry, so....
