I'm getting a PowerBook 520c with 117 MHz PPC upgrade pretty soon, and I'm wondering just how useful of a computer it is. Since I'm going into college, a laptop would be a very useful tool. But it would be nice to know how capable a computer it is. It would either be a mobile computer with a more powerful desktop at home, or merely a fun "hobby" computer with a better laptop as my main machine (I haven't decided yet between an eMac and an iBook).
So, if it is truly useful for things like taking notes and a little bit of internet access (essentially all I'd be using a computer for outside of my dorm), I could save quite a bit of money and get a powerful desktop (eMac) instead of a less powerful laptop (iBook). I've been debating which computer to get for college for a while, and I'm still not sure. Keeping my Wallstreet and getting an eMac didn't really make sense because I could have just sold the Wallstreet for quite a bit of money, more than making up for the price difference between the eMac and the iBook. But trading the Wallstreet for a lower-end laptop and money seems to make more sense... I just want to think about it a little more before I buy a brand new computer. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
