Sionnach,

In the 2 years when my battery was working, I used it to some extent
every day. Even though it wasn't my primary computer, I used it
enough to deplete the battery fully at least 2 - 3 times a week. :-/

David,

I never meant to imply that ALL Wallstreets have these problems, but I
did intend to demonstrate that these issues aren't as uncommon as some
would have us believe. Minimalizing the issue doesn't fix the
machines affected. Likewise, not ALL 5300s (Ok, this is a bad example
because 5300s really are pretty shoddy, generally speaking) display
the symptoms that prompted the REA, and yet the REA existed. I'm not
even saying the problems I've experienced are as common as the 5300
issues, but they are far more common, say, than the instance of people
who drive over their laptops with their cars or drop their powerbooks
down capital building steps. Abuse alone cannot account for the large
number of consistent complaints in these three areas that I have
observed over the course of the last year and a half. Besides these 3
(or 4 with the cracking of the sound board - which I haven't
experienced so similarly haven't looked into), the Wallstreet is a
great machine. Besides these three issues, the Wallstreet is really
built like a tank - I have heard various stories of people dropping
G3s onto concrete floors, grabbing them violently by the lid (eey,
that can't be good!), and spilling liquids on them, then booting them
right back up. But for me, those three issues have really soured my
experience. I'm tied to a desk and afraid to change the angle of my
display!

And performance is second to none (well, neglecting advances in
technology since then, of course).

These days, my Wallstreet IS my primary computer. Having replaced the
display hinges and ignoring the screen marks (not really visible when
the 'book is on anyway - unless you look REALLY closely, and hey, I
haven't closed the lid in over 2 months at least), this PowerBook is
rock solid and fast... assuming, of course, that no one trips on the
power cord or the electricity doesn't go out. Then it becomes a
$2000 paperweight.

Peace,
Drew
