SOS for the second time in four days. The trackpad clicker button (is this
the right name? the equivalent of the mouse button) on my 5300 has just
bitten the dust -- it's been acting wonky for some time, but now seems to
have quit definitively. Is this fixable, or do I have to track down a
replacement part, and if so what's needed -- a new palm rest?

The service manual explains how to get at it, but says nothing about
repairs, or replacement for that matter. A couple of weeks ago there was a
thread on the list about this very problem in a 3400, but I gathered that
this defect was model-specific so didn't pay sufficient attention.

The computer is barely usable this way -- there do seem to be keyboard
equivalents for just about everything -- and if necessary I could plug in a
mouse, but it sure is inconvenient.

Many thanks,
Victoria
