Eureka! Hyperarchive did it, not even a blink. The problem with the earlier link wasn't the page itself, but the download link it led to. Thank you, Bruce: I'm quoting most of your posting because these sites certainly seem to be well worth repeating. And thanks too to everyone who's offered to email this software to me, and has otherwise provided invaluable advice. BTW since the ethernet connection to the 5300 won't activate without the clicker, the only way I can figure to install ClickPad is to copy to a floppy, turn off the desktop computer, detach the mouse, and hook it to the PB -- but not before taking the PB apart first to see if there isn't something obviously repairable within.
