I assume you did a Custom Install? Not all of the networking (ethernet) parts were
added to any of my Macs PBs nor desktops under the Standard Install. I had to
custom install before ethernet became an option under AppleTalk. Any generic OS
install disk will work. (I've used 7.5.5, 7.6.1, 8.0, 8.1 update,8.5, 8.6 update
and 9.1)
