Tom,
I used the easter egg method and swapped, the PMU board, and PRAM battery
and then followed the troubleshooting logic in the Apple service manual.
Once I had completed that and tried swapping the keyboard the service manual
suggests replacing the logic board. Looking at the system architecture in
the developers notes for this machine points to this chip as the culprit,
it's a high density package with lots of leads.
