I have in the past been involved in component level repair of both
PowerBooks and desktop Mac's, the only source we could find for the custom
Apple chips was scrap units.
Ben.
NB there are one or 2 companies that specialise in 'reclaimed' components
that are removed from working boards, however even they tend not to have
Apple chips other than processors (as other non-Apple equipment tended to
use Motorola/IBM processor chips too)
