Hi

    I have 2 PB 3400 logic boards (a 180, & a 240) that exhibit similar
symptoms, the disease is acute sleeping sickness, the device that is
probably the cause is the PMU IC, a variation of the 68HC05 made for
Apple by Motorola. It's chip Number SC428009PV, 341S0187-B PMU, 1995
Apple, G73M0AVBZ9715. I have tried cross referencing everyone of these
numbers both on a Master Cross Reference List and on Motorola's list
with no joy, has anyone ever done any component level repairs on 3400's
and if so, who was your parts source?

Thanks
Roger

Roger, if the unit is not too many pins (can you describe it ?), a repair should be a snap. I suggest looking at other powerbooks to see if they have a similar part you can scrounge. PB 1400 and 5300 are of the same vintage and the motherboards are relatively cheap.

How did you deduce the problem was this IC ?

Mad Dog

PS: I got the PMO out today
