Does it matter to use alcohol or the ammonia to get rid "bad stuff" still on
the plastic?

I have found that alcohol cleans but not enough. Ammonia on the other
hand cleans very efficiently. I started with alcohol with my painting hacks
and have gotten many fisheyes in the paint (dirt or oil still on the
plastic). Once I switched to the Ammonia I haven't had any problems with
fisheyes, adherence or chip resistance.

I take it this paint has adhesive properties in it that that replace the
need for primer?

Exactly! Check it out on the web at www.krylon.com

Does this paint cover in one coat without running or are two light coats
with drying time in between better?

With all paint do multiple light coats. Just don't want too long between
coats. I actually did up to 5 coats (very lightly) with approx. 15 minutes
between coats. I let it dry for 24 hours and the finish has turned out to be
rock hard and not one chip for 5 months now.

IMHO - Check to see if the color you wish to paint is in the new "Fusion"
style of paint and use it instead of the primer base method. Use of this
new paint technology will speed up your process by at least two days than
the painting method I described.

They have a pretty good selection of colors. Some of them are funky but
most people should find one to suit there taste...and no I don't work for
Krylon.
