I use Drive Setup, the latest version, even if I have to patch it to accept the drive.
The only case where I resort to non-Apple drivers is where I want (or need) more than 8 user partitions, which Apple doesn't support.
Will 8.1 support partitions as large as 2GB?
Absolutely. I have a 10GB drive with two partitions - one 500mb and one roughly 9GB on my Q630 under 8.1
