Personally, I like the 190 really well. Mine only has the greyscale, but it's
a good machine, once you get past the notorious loose power connector. The
5300 is a really good choice, if you're on a budget, and I believe that the
ce has the best screen and processor of the 5300 line, but I'm not sure. The
190c is also good, but, whatever you do, avoid the cs models, because of the
passive matrix screen not having the sharpness of the active-matrix c models.
I've also heard really good things about the 1400 series, but I haven't used
one, so I can't tell you how good one of those would be. The 2400, which was
recommended by someone else, is a pretty pricey proposition as far as pre-G3
'Books go. Last I saw, the 2400 was up there with the G3 Wallstreet on price.
Like I said, the 190 and 5300 are my picks, but if portability isn't as big
of an issue, the 3400, which is, if I remember correctly, loosely based on
the 190/5300 form factor, may be a good option.

Pricing*:

190c: About $25-30
5300c: About $35-40
1400c: About $50-60
3400/240: About $100-150

*The prices are based on what I've seen over the past few months on fleabay.

Hope this helps, and good luck finding a replacement for your 520.

Caleb
