All you need is a SCSI cable that can plug into multiple drives. Make sure that their IDs are not the same and you can roll. You'll have to choose which drive to connect the audio cable to, though.
Benefits? I love having one to read from and one to write to. I can just drag the CD I want to copy onto Toast and then drop a blank in the burner.

I have a Yamaha 8424 CDRW (SCSI) I'd like to install in my PTP 250. My
question is: Can I add it below the existing 8x CD-ROM, or do I need to
replace the stock unit?
And if I supplement the stock unit, what do I need in the way of SCSI cable,
power cable and audio cable to connect it. The unit was supplied with no
cables of any kind.
More to the point: Is there any advantage to adding, as opposed to
replacing, that would justify even minimal extra work/risk/expense.
Thanks for your insights.
