Frankly, I would be hesitant to spend a $100.00 on a $20.00 Mac to
upgrade. I have a hard time justifying any more $$ than what a B&W G3
can be bought for.

I've been adding goodies to my PTPro lately because the used G3 cards
and PCI video cards are getting so cheap I can't say no.

I can't see why it'd be that expensive. They already have a memory controller made, the one they used on the Sonnet upgrade for the 7200, it had RAM on it. It retailed for $349 on the faster version. Also, there are a variety of G4s from Freescale with their own RAM controllers onboard, and for that matter they have IDE and PCI and so on, also onboard. Of course, the dual core 1.4GHz version of this in a PTP might embarass some of the G5s in some benchmarks though, and it shouldn't have to cost $500..


But yes, the used G3s are getting pretty reasonable these days.
