Hi Nick,
I have one that I use as a straight printer on Mac OS9.2.2. I'm too much of
a coward to go over to OS X just yet and I'm waiting for the native Epson
drivers for the 5000 to arrive.
I've had the printer profiled and it works extremely well, almost as good as
a proofer in fact.
If you had yours profiled when using Mac drivers and you are now using XP
drivers, you will certainly need to have a new profile made for it. Even
updates to the same basic driver can render the existing printer profile
useless.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are simply
printing out images, there is no real need for a RIP, and you'd still need a
profile making for that too (assuming colour management and accuracy are
your thing!).
As for converting to pigmented inks, I'm not even sure that's possible.
If you want to sell it, contact me off list as I may be interested, or know
someone who is...

hth

regards
