Dear list,

Sorry if this is basic stuff, but I have searched the manual without finding out how to do it, and in PS 6 my actions just stayed put, so I never had to worry about them:

How can I keep my own custom actions in the actions palette when restarting Photoshop 7 and make them default? I have just made the transition to OS X (10.2.3) and PS 7.0.1 and have recorded several new actions, and saved them using the Save Actions command in the menu, not to loose them in case of a crash. I saved the set to the Presets>Photoshop Actions folder as suggested by the manual, but I still have to load them every time I start PS7. How can I make my actions default without having to load them every time? I have also tried to delete the original set which for some reason keeps showing up in PS 7 every time I start it, even though I have deleted it several times because it only contains duplicates of the first few actions I recorded. Is this one of the cases where trashing the preferences might work? Any suggestions?

Which leads me to the next issue: stability. Others on this list have praised the stability of OS X and PS7, but that is not my experience during the two weeks I have been running it. The reason why I am so annoyed by having to reload the actions are because PS7 is crashing quite often, making it necessary to restart and reload the actions all the time. So I would welcome any suggestions as to the stability problems on my machine. I have both application crashes and full system crashes (OS X prompts me to restart the machine). I thought this would be a thing of the past with OS X...?

OS X also seems to be "pausing" a lot, just spinning the coloured wheel for a looong time before proceeding to do what I told it to do - usually shifting to another application. Has this got to do with aging hardware? My G4 400mhz 1GB RAM machine is getting a bit old, but still? I have installed Norton Systemworks and turned off NAV as suggested by a friend of mine who said that NAV was a real nuisance on PC's when working in PS. So I thought the same might be the case with Mac's, but I am not sure yet, having just turned it off. Any suggestions would be most appreciated as I had hoped to drag along with my old G4 for a bit longer.

Thanks in advance!
