Hi Ian

My domain name host scans all my emails for viruses. Have you checked with
yours to see if they offer it as a service?

One thing you could do is set your Outlook Express to view your mailbox's
contents. That way, you can decide which emails do download and which to
delete while they're still on your server.

I can't remember how to do in OE but it can be done. Once setup, you click
on the icon rather than tell OE to receive. You'll be able to see all the
subject lines and from details so you can decide which you want to download
to you Inbox.

Look for "Allow online access" or someSuch settings in your preferences or
accounts dialog boxes. Or do a search of the help file.

HTH.
