Dear Mike, I can't tell you *why*, I'm afraid, but I can tell you that it is common. Whenever I make a border on an image I use the 'Inside' setting when I stroke the canvas (so to speak), with a width of 3/4 pixels at 75% opacity.

Isn't there a "border" option in the Page Setup? I tend to use this for a more reliable result. --
