Macjanitor does that for you but cannot be scheduled to run automatically (I
think Macaroni can and is probably worth the silly price if it will accept
your token $8 or so they charge).
I like Cronaid. <http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13803> does the maintenance when you switch on your computer, automatically. I also use "Cocktail" which is great.
