I've reposted this with a different title, just in case anyone ignored it,
due to the "amateur" subject heading. I need someone to bring some sanity
back to my life, this is driving me mad!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just got a new Canon Ixus 400 for taking location pics, snaps etc. Great
little camera, I'd highly recommend it.

BUT - I just received a Compact Flash card from good old aus.
(powerinnumbers) its a 512Mb RiData. Trouble is, the ixus doesn't seem to
like it!

The camera is working fine, using the original card. The card will work fine
in my D60 or 10d. However putting the card in the ixus creates chaos. The
camera does not want to start up. If it does, it takes an age. Then the
menu's will not respond, press a button, then wait 10 seconds or more before
the screen changes. Solution, format the card? NO - when attempting to
format the card, the process appears to start, but after 5-10 seconds, the
whole camera dies, powers down. I'm at a loss. There's nothing wrong with
the camera for sure, nor is there with the card, they just don't seem to
like each other. My final option, is to try and find someone with a PC and
card reader, then try formatting the card with FAT16, to see if that will
revive it.

Anyone had similar problems? I know the S2 users have problems with certain
cards (I seem to remember) is it just one of those things. Should I just try
another make?
