Dear Paul, 1) On my XP box the unit only works intermittently, more often it doesn't work at all. Symptom, Software can't talk to the scanner, even though XP can recognise the scanner and the diagnostic test works.
If you are using usb 2 then leave scanner on unplug usb port then plug in again. Xp will ask you for drivers ask to search (leave to let windows decide as the drivers are already on the drive and let continue anyway as they are not digitally signed. This solved the same erratic problem I was having. Make sure you have then autofocus for scan turned on in preferences as this make sure it focuses for every slide. I am batch scanning 4-6 at a time at the moment as trannies, with ice on it taking about 36 mins at full resolution for 6 with usb 2.
