The fact is that I want this printer. On paper (NPI) it shows promise and I'd like to avoid an Epson if possible. I don't think it's healthy to have such a dominant player in the market. Plus I have had plenty of Epsons over the years and I think they take the p*$$ out of their customers.

I'm hopeful of a call from Canon today, otherwise Epson here I come.

Simon, I fully understand your feelings about Epson: With the 2100 I have had the worst Tech Support experience ever with Epson in the UK and France. The driver bugs were bad enough, but the printer broke down after 10 months and has been almost unusable since May. Yesterday, after many calls to Epson's premium rate support line, and ultimately a degree of rudeness which frankly shouldn't have been necessary, Epson have finally agreed to exchange the printer.

If you do end up with a 2100 I'm sure you'll be happy with the prints; I've been using Epson's for ages and I'm still surprised by the quality this model is capable of. Knowing this has helped to keep me persevering with Epson over the last couple of months!

Hope you get the Canon sorted,
Cheers,
William Davies.
