Im currently failing to get the scanner installed on Win XP... scanner cannot be initialised. This is the case with both USB and Firewire connections. No communication.
Anyone using it on this OS? Dear Paul, I too had this problem in xp. Try this Install the software. Restart computer. Unplug 5400 usb connection. Turn scanner on. Then re plug usb connection in. Then windows should then recognise new hard ware and then find drivers for it. You should be then able to initialise scanner, in both vuescan and minolta software. This fixed it for me. Try this with the usb and then your fireconnection is the faster of the two then plug firewire in.
