Dear List,

My name is Giancarlo Zuccotto and I am the managing director of the Science Photo Library in London.
Our photo library was founded more than 20 years ago and specialises in science, medicine, technology and space. We only deal with rights managed images and the majority of our client base is in the editorial market. Like all other libraries, we have gone through a digital revolution in the last few years and all our images are now supplied to clients in digital form rather than transparencies. As a consequence we had to acquire skills and knowledge in a number of digital areas, especially in scanning transparencies. We have several scanners and for high-res work we use three Flextight Precision and a Cezanne A3 flatbed.

At the moment we are considering the purchase of a Canon EOS 1Ds digital camera which will be used for studio projects as well as for shoots on locations such as the interior of labs, hospitals etc. I was wondering if anybody on the list has had any particular negative experience with this camera. I apologise in advance if this subject has been already treated before.

Best wishes,

Giancarlo Zuccotto www.sciencephoto.com
