I don't recall the ACR supporting the 1Ds so the chances are ACR II won't
support it either in Photoshop CS. Beta testers?....Where are you?...
Adobe Camera Raw for Photoshop 7.0 currently supports the EOS 1Ds. The revised Camera Raw plug-in in Photoshop CS is a major improvement in many ways. The list below is my compilation of the cameras supported officially and unofficially. By unofficial, this means Thomas Knoll managed to add the camera support after the official list was compiled.
Since testing Photoshop CS, I have used Camera Raw exclusively for all my EOS 1Ds file conversions. The benefits for me are that it is nice and easy to open a folder of fresh captures in the File Browser and configure the browser window so that as the capture previews are built, I can start editing the pictures at almost full screen resolution (filling almost the full height (or width) of the window). I use Command/Control + ' to flag the images I like, and use the arrow keys to navigate to the next image. Switch the browser to show flagged images only, and I can continue editing from the short-listed images.
In the new Camera Raw dialog, you have the usual colour temp controls etc. Under the hood, improved renderings from raw formats such as the EOS 1Ds. In addition colour noise suppression, luminance sharpening, vignette control (to compensate for exposure fall off towards the edges, if present) and two sliders to adjust for color fringing that can sometimes occur towards the edges of a picture, especially in the high contrast areas. Plus also, calibration tweaks so that you can further customize the camera raw rendering. Let's say you decide the default rendering always produces too rich red skin tones with your flash setup. You can configure a customized setting that modifies the colour shift and reduces the red saturation. This can then be your default setting.
