I'm far from being an expert. All I know is that since replacing my
ADSL modem with an Alcatel speedtouch router I have never been offline
once. BT's service was disastrous (I won't go into details, to keep my
blood pressure down) but I was an early adopter so things may have
improved. If you've got a Mac, make sure that the support staff of
the ISP you are considering understands what a Mac is.
